Michael Grinnon

Managing Partner

Michael, a native of Long Island, New York, graduated from the University of Maryland in 2005. During his time at Maryland, he was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team and holds the unique distinction of being the only player in program history to have won both a National Championship and an ACC Championship.

Michael began his professional career with New York Life in 2007. In his first four years, he affiliated with Eagle Strategies, where he earned four MDRT qualifications* and three President’s Council** honors. In 2011, Michael transitioned into leadership as part of the Northern Virginia management team, where his performance led to his promotion to Senior Partner in 2014. He and his wife, Cynthia, later relocated to Dallas, Texas, where he served as Corporate Vice President for the West Central Zone.

Since 2018, Michael has served as Managing Partner, first leading the St. Louis office and, beginning in 2023, the Orlando office. Under his leadership, both offices have earned multiple national recognitions. In July of 2026, Michael returned home to the DMV to serve as Managing Partner of New York Life’s flagship Greater DC office. He has built a strong reputation for developing individuals into successful, long-term careers as financial advisors and leaders within the organization.

Michael and Cynthia met while attending the University of Maryland and have three children—Mikayla, Abigail, and Luke—who share their parents’ passion for competitive athletics. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Michael is actively involved in his church community, enjoys coaching youth sports, and values spending time on the golf course with his friends.
